Global water-quality instrumentation company: a senior team that moved legacy AngularJS apps to Angular

A global water-quality instrumentation company needed to move legacy AngularJS applications to Angular and add development capacity. From 2017 to 2020 Briebug developers worked with its team on time and materials.

  • AngularJS
  • Angular
  • Feature toggles
  • Automated acceptance testing

The situation

  • The client needed expert Angular guidance to migrate legacy applications.
  • It also needed more development output from its team.
  • It wanted good architecture and protection against regression, scalability and maintainability problems.
  • Discovery notes showed gaps in linting, CI/CD and code coverage.

What we did

Application conversion

We converted a data application from AngularJS to Angular and handed it over in January 2019.

Graphs and dashboards

We worked on spreadsheet graphs, KPI testing and graph-type feature toggles for the dashboard.

QA partnership

We met weekly, worked closely with the client's QA team and ran an exploratory phase of automated acceptance testing.

Planning and onboarding

We estimated two follow-on epics, tested and fixed a second migrated application, and supported back-end onboarding.

Lasting patterns

We recommended team-wide code patterns that would outlast the engagement, and better traceability of stories to acceptance criteria.

The result

  • The first application conversion was finished and handed over in January 2019.
  • The client gave Briebug an NPS of 10 in May 2020 and again in June 2020.
  • The client returned for successive statements of work from 2018 to 2019, with monthly reports into mid-2020.
