Fix AI-generated code

AI-Built Code Rescue

Your app was built fast with AI coding tools, and it worked as a demo. Now every new feature breaks something else. Our senior US-based engineers find out what is underneath, tell you whether to keep it, harden it or rebuild it, and make it safe to extend.

Why it breaks when you extend it

Tools such as Lovable, Bolt, Cursor and GitHub Copilot let a small team put a working product in front of users quickly. That speed is real. What the tools do not do on their own is decide how the system is structured, write the tests that protect it, or keep secrets and access under control. When nobody made those decisions, the same problems show up the first time you extend the app.

  • No tests

Nothing tells you a change broke something, so each new feature is a gamble and your users find the bugs first.

  • Duplicated logic

The same rule is written in several places, often slightly differently. Fix it in one and the others still behave the old way.

  • Secrets in the code

API keys, database passwords and tokens sit in source files or in the browser bundle, where anyone with the code or the app can read them.

  • No clear architecture

Each prompt solved the problem in front of it. With no overall structure, data access, business rules and screens are tangled together.

  • Fragile deployment

Releases depend on one laptop or a hosted builder's defaults, with no repeatable pipeline, no staging environment and no easy way back.

  • Security gaps

Authorization checked only in the browser, input that is never validated, and dependencies nobody updates. It works until someone curious tries it.

Keep, harden or rebuild

The Technical Assessment answers the question you actually have: is this code worth building on?

For a $10K fixed fee and about 1 week, our engineers review the code, the architecture, the pipeline and the security. The triage report says what needs to be done, and in what order. The milestone-based estimate says what each step will cost. Together they give you a verdict.

  1. Keep

The structure is sound and the problems are local. The triage report lists the fixes in order, and you keep building on what you have.

  2. Harden

The product is right, but the foundation is not safe to extend. The triage report sets the order: secrets and security first, then tests, then the pipeline and the structure.

  3. Rebuild

Fixing it would cost more than replacing it. The working app becomes the specification for the new one, and the milestone-based estimate prices a rebuild against hardening.

The report is yours. Whatever the verdict, take it to any shop, or give it to your own team.

Then we stabilize it

If you hire us to do the work, Stabilize follows the triage report, in order.

  • Move secrets out of the code and rotate every key that was exposed
  • Close the security gaps the assessment found
  • Add tests around what the app already does, so that change becomes safe
  • Remove duplicated logic and give the code a structure your team can follow
  • Build a repeatable release pipeline, with a staging environment and a way back

When it is stable, we hand it back: documented, with pairing until your team owns the code and the process.

How we use AI ourselves

We are not against AI coding tools. We use them every day, inside guardrails.

  • Plan first. We agree what we will change and how we will know it worked, before anyone, or anything, writes code.
  • Test-driven development. A failing test comes first, and passing tests are our definition of done. AI-written code meets the same bar as ours.
  • A senior engineer accountable for every change. Whoever or whatever wrote a line, a senior engineer reads it, understands it and owns it before it reaches your codebase.

Proof from our rescues

These two rescues fixed problems this page describes. Neither was an AI-built app. Strata GPO's portal now runs static analysis, dependency scanning and secret scanning on every change. At Cultivate, we removed hardcoded payment credentials and rotated every token.

  • Strata GPO

Member portal for a group purchasing organization

2,137customer accounts created in Microsoft Entra on release night, with zero errors

    Problem
An independent security assessment flagged critical weaknesses in a live portal that thousands of members use every day.
    What we found
Credentials stored in the portal's own database with no second factor, internal services that did not check callers, hardcoded secrets, and manual releases.
    Result
MFA sign-in through Microsoft Entra, every service verifying every caller, secrets in Key Vault, and automated, scanned releases. 2,137 accounts migrated with zero errors.

  • Cultivate

    Premium gifting platform

    Problem
Feature development had stopped. Releases shipped with bugs, and a system defect let purchases go through outside approved price ranges.
    What we found
Environments that did not match, no formal delivery process, hardcoded payment API credentials, and old VPN and SSH access nobody had reviewed.
    Result
Four aligned environments, one agile process in Jira, rotated credentials with least-privilege access, and features that ship predictably.

Questions about AI-built code

Is code from AI tools production-ready?

Sometimes. AI coding tools can write good code, but production readiness depends on decisions the tools do not make on their own: tests, structure, secrets, access control and deployment. The only way to know for your app is to read the code, which is what the Technical Assessment does.

Should we rescue it or rebuild it?

It depends on what is underneath. The Technical Assessment ends in a verdict: keep, harden or rebuild. The milestone-based estimate prices the options, so you can compare the cost of fixing the app with the cost of replacing it.

Our app was built with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Copilot. Can you work on it?

Yes. These tools write code in mainstream languages and frameworks. We assess and fix the code itself, wherever it came from, and you can keep using the tools afterwards.

Can we keep using AI tools after you fix it?

Yes. We use them ourselves. What changes is the guardrails: a plan before the change, tests that must pass, and an engineer who reads and owns every change before it ships. We hand those practices back to your team with the code.

What does it cost to find out?

The Technical Assessment is a $10K fixed fee and takes about 1 week. You get a comprehensive report, a triage report of what to fix in what order, and a milestone-based estimate. The report is yours to take to anyone.
