Rescue case study · Business management platform for restoration companies

Restore United: modernizing a restoration platform so it could grow again

Restore United provides a business management platform for restoration companies, combining scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, work orders and mobile access in one system. As the product matured, it needed to modernize its architecture, workflows and infrastructure to support new clients.

  • Angular
  • Nx
  • AWS
  • AWS Secrets Manager
  • Azure DevOps
  • Capacitor
  • QuickBooks Online

The problem

  • The platform had accumulated technical debt that was hurting maintainability and operational efficiency.
  • The infrastructure relied heavily on manual deployments, with little DevOps automation.
  • The team needed to keep the product running while it was modernized.

What we found

  • Outdated Angular front-end frameworks across the main application, the admin portal and the mobile app.
  • Features that depended on an outdated QuickBooks integration, which left parts of the product incomplete.
  • A mobile app that could not be distributed or updated: the Android developer account had expired and the build relied on deprecated Cordova tooling.
  • A production TLS certificate issue.

What we did

Modernized the applications

We upgraded the main application, the admin portal and the mobile app to current Angular, and brought them into an Nx monorepo with shared libraries.

Rebuilt the QuickBooks integration

A scalable QuickBooks Online integration built on webhook events, synchronizing job and customer records, with data-model fixes so it works reliably across company connections.

Infrastructure and pipeline

CI/CD pipelines, staging environments, and Azure DevOps pipelines deploying into AWS. The new infrastructure ran alongside the existing production environment during the transition.

Security

We moved sensitive credentials into AWS Secrets Manager and fixed the production TLS certificate with AWS Certificate Manager and an updated load balancer configuration.

Mobile apps that ship again

We migrated the mobile app from Cordova to Capacitor, rebuilt the Android app for redeployment, prepared the iOS app for distribution, and set up a sustainable mobile build and release workflow.

Cleaned up the product

We improved onboarding workflows and removed or hid incomplete features.

The result

  • Front-end applications on current Angular frameworks.
  • A scalable QuickBooks Online integration supporting core accounting workflows.
  • CI/CD pipelines and centralized secrets management.
  • Restored mobile deployment, and a platform ready to onboard new customers.
