The situation
- The V3 UI mixed AngularJS and Angular.
- It depended on Bootstrap, jQuery and angular-ui-bootstrap.
- Crownpeak wanted the UI to be sustainable, fast, scalable and testable.
What we found
- AngularJS needed an upgrade to 1.7 for stability and security, followed by deprecation.
- Long templates needed to be split into container and presentation components.
- Production builds needed AOT compilation and preloaded report and content modules.
- State management, a TinyMCE fork and automated testing were high-value next steps.
What we did
Reviewed on site
We ran a two-day on-site review with a demo, pain points, tooling, performance and best practices.
Wrote the report
We delivered a written architectural review with prioritized and sequenced guidance tables.
Presented the findings
We gave a presentation deck in management and engineering versions.
Set the path
We recommended NgRx, the Angular CLI, Cypress, an Nx workspace and a shared component library.
The result
- Its engineering team scoped the findings to decide next steps.
- In March 2020 Crownpeak came back to Briebug about larger projects.
